I have been a partner here in Burwell since 1997. While I am interested in most areas of medicine, I am also involved in our management of asthma and lung problems. I also particularly enjoy paediatrics and exercise medicine. I am a keen cyclist.

I have been a GP here in Burwell since 2000. Although as a GP I come across a wide range of problems, I have particular interest in diabetes – I run the diabetic clinic with Practice Nurse Angie and also Family Planning (I fit contraceptive coils and implants). I have been a trustee of the Arthur Rank Hospice in Cambridge for several years and I feel that it is really important to be providing the best possible care for patients and their families who are dealing with a life limiting illness. I also have a role in the financial management of the local NHS system representing the group of practices in the Ely area on the Cambridge and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). Away from work I enjoy music (playing in a rock band) and long distance running.

I am a salaried GP at Burwell working part time. I enjoy all aspects of general practice. I am particularly interested in preventive medicine and mental health. In my free time I enjoy painting, reading and walking.

Each practice nurse has an area of speciality and also provide services such as coil check, coil removal, immunisations, pill check, contraception advice, asthma review, cervical smear, gynae swab, CHD (heart) review, COPD review and spirometry, travel vaccinations and advice, diabetes review, dressings, wound management and leg ulcer management.
In addition to the doctors, our practice nurses are able to see patients who need an urgent appointment in relation to a minor illness. The exception to this is for patients under the age of 2, who will need to request to see a doctor.
Minor illnesses include animal bites, burns/scalds, earache, emergency contraception, insect bites and stings, minor head injuries, minor injuries, rash, sore eyes, sore throat, sprains and strains, sticky eyes, trauma/lacerations, urine infection, vaginal discharge, wound and wound infection.
Our healthcare assistant (HCA) provides support to the practice nurses and work under their guidance. Services include anticoagulation, dressings, ECG, suture/clip removal, 6 week baby checks, ear irrigation, hearing test, new patient health check, memory test, no smokes clinic, weight clinic, 24 hour blood pressure monitor fitting and spirometry.
They also assists with minor operations and coil fittings.
Debbie is responsible for the administration and running of the practice. Debbie will be pleased to deal with any comments, queries, or complaints that you may have concerning the practice and the service it provides.
The receptionists are the vital co-ordinators of the practice team. They have a very busy and responsible task and are there to help you with any queries you may have.
Antenatal clinics are held every Friday to provide health checks and advice throughout your pregnancy. You can book your appointments through the surgery.
The district nurses tend those patients who are unable to come to the surgery and require nursing care at home. They can be contacted by telephone on 0844 931 0045 Mon to Fri 08.00 - 16.00. Outside these hours please call 01603 481205.
They provide health visiting for 0-5 year olds. They can be contacted on: 01223 813413. Baby Clinics are held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday afternoon of each month from 12.30 - 14.00 pm. at the Mandeville Hall, Burwell. School nursing services for families with children 5-9 year olds can be contacted on: 01223 810041.
The CCS Podiatry Department hold a clinic approximately once a week, primarily treating those who are at high risk of foot ulceration or infection such as patients with diabetes. Appointments can be made by self referral and forms are available from reception. Please note that they are unable to provide toenail cutting or routine chiropody treatment.
Diabetic Specialist Nurse and Dietician
Clinics are held at the surgery on the 4th Wednesday of each month for patients who need extra help to manage their diabetes. You can book your appointment through the surgery once a referral has been made.
Offers specialist dietary advice for weight management and food allergy sufferers. Clinics are held bi-monthly. Once referred for an appointment please contact Jane Green directly on 01354 644247.

We have our own dispensary but we can dispense only to those patients who live more than a mile from a chemist.
The dispensary is open from 08:30 to 18:00 Monday to Friday and is run by our team of qualified dispensers. They are happy to help with any queries or concerns you may have about your medication. They can also advise you on payment for prescriptions, claiming for a prepayment certificate and free prescriptions.
